‘Out in full green gear’ — Windsor celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

A wave of green washed over Windsor on a sunny St. Patrick’s Day, among the biggest party days of the year.
“This falls in line with Halloween and New Year’s Eve,” said Andrew Corbett, co-owner of six Windsor bars and restaurants. “So yeah, definitely one of the biggest.
“When the sun is shining it’s usually a really good St. Patrick’s Day. It looks like it’s a really nice day outside.”

The city-wide party started early on Monday, with some bars opening in the morning and others offering pub crawls, live music, brisket sandwiches, whiskey tastings and green beer.
The Manchester Bar transformed into an “Irish oasis” including a bagpipe performance.
Villains Beastro geared up for its annual St. Patrick’s Swayze Day, with karaoke, loud music, and festive food.
“We always have fun on St Patrick’s Swayze day,” said Villains Beastro owner Geoff Zanetti.
O’Maggio’s Kildare House opened at 9 a.m. and filled up fast. But the St. Patty’s parties actually began before that.
Many places were busier than usual on Saturday and Sunday for what has become known as St. Practice Day.
“This past weekend, we did see a very busy weekend at all the locations, with people celebrating St. Patrick’s Day,” Corbett told the Star Monday morning. He co-owns Bull and Barrell, Wild Child Nightlife, Disco Inferno, and several locations of The GOAT Tap and Eatery.
“Saturday night, people were out in full green gear, and it was a very, very busy night. But we’re definitely expecting a big crowd today.”
