Mom surprised by husband’s baby name choice learns the truth
A woman who loved her husband’s suggestion for their daughter’s name later realized just why he had suggested it.
Jules lives in the New Hampshire with her husband Corey and baby daughter, Senna—named “after the Formula One legend, Ayrton Senna.”
Her daughter’s name has gone viral after Jules posted a video to her TikTok account @lifeasjulez in March, showing her daughter playing a racing video game with her dad.
Across the video were the words: “Sometimes I think about the fact that my F1-obsessed husband convinced me to name our daughter after the greatest F1 driver without telling me where her name came from.”
Viewed more than 1.6 million times, and boasting 75,000 likes, it had a huge reaction online, as one commenter guessed right away: “Her name is Senna it is?”
Others took the opportunity for jokes, as one wrote: “Michael Schumacher is certainly an interesting name for a girl,” and another added: “Logal Sargeant i such a beautiful name for your daughter.”
But others who guessed right praised the name, with one writing: “Senna is actually a nice name for a girl though.”

Jules explained to Newsweek that her husband suggested the name in 2020, before she was pregnant—and at the time, Jules was reading the Twilight series, which included a character called Senna, and she thought he had taken the name from that.
“I said, ‘yeah it’s pretty’,” Jules told Newsweek. “I was just thinking—’how do you know that?'”
“He ran with my oblivion for a week or two, and I spent a couple days brainstorming names that would go with Senna for a middle name,” she said.
But when Jules brought it up again, her husband admitted where the name came from—the legendary Brazilian driver who died tragically in 1994, while driving in the San Marino Grand Prix.
Rather than this turning Jules off the name, she became fascinated with the driver, watching documentaries and reading books on the man, as she “felt such a strong connection to the name.”

Senna’s name has turned heads both online and in real life, as Jules admitted a nurse at the hospital told her “her name is also a laxative”—but it didn’t turn the new parents off.
“His friends are always laughing with him, asking him how he got me to name our daughter that, and he always implies it was my idea. Because, in a sense, it was just weird coincidences that led to the origin of our daughter’s name.”
Senna is a relatively unique name, not making it into the top 100 girls’ names in the United States in 2023.
According to the Social Security Administration, the top five girls’ names in the US in 2023 were Olivia, Emma, Charlotte, Amelia and Sophia.
