The Chicken Shop Date star is taking part in Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off’s Stand Up to Cancer special
The Great British Bake Off is back for another year of celebrity fun as more star-studded faces take on the tent in the Stand Up To Cancer series.
Since 2018, Channel 4’s hit baking show has hosted a special series to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer. The aim is to raise significant funds for translational cancer research through online and televised efforts.
From Sunday March 16 to Sunday April 13, four new celebs will be taking each other on as they bake to impress the judges. Each week, they’ll be tasked to complete three bakes – the signature, the technical and the showstopper.
At the end of every episode, one celebrity will take home the glory of being crowned Star Baker, all while raising money for a very good cause.
Last year, Dermot O’Leary, Gabby Logan, Spencer Matthews and Leigh Francis all won Star Baker in their respective episodes after Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood praised the stars for their efforts.
During the first episode that aired on Sunday 16th March, Chris Ramsey, Rosie Ramsey, Scarlette Douglas and Stuart Douglas took on the tent. They were challenged to tea-time classic scones in the Signature, before taking on a chocolately old-school favourite in the Technical, while they had to replicate a career highlight in their Showstopper cake.
Airing on Sunday 23rd March, episode two will see Sarah Beeny, Amelia Dimoldenberg, Roman Kemp, and Maxine Peake compete to win the coveted Star Baker apron.
Amelia Dimoldenberg is a 31-year-old internet star who is the founder and host of the hit YouTube series Chicken Shop Date, in which she interviews celebrity guests around various chicken shops in London.
She’s been on dates with A-List celebrities including Cher, Aitch, Raye and Billie Eilish. One of her most popular romantic conquests for her hit series was Hollywood actor Andrew Garfield after the pair met on the carpet of the GQ Men of Year awards and again at the 2023 Golden Globes.
The date garnered a huge 10 million views , following on from the success of her carpet interviews with the actor. Speaking to Cosmopolitan, she shared: “I’m really proud of it. We’re friendly. It’s been great to speak to him about how well the episode has done. He’s so lovely. As I said in the episode, I friend-zoned him…”
Amelia’s Chicken Shop Date started out as a column in the youth magazine The Cut, which was based at the Stowe Centre youth club on Harrow Road. She wanted to interview artists and also go on dates, so combined the two together with the first episode being uploaded in 2014.
She describes her persona in the show as “an exaggerated version” of herself and the awkwardness depicted is usually a result of the edit.
She also appeared on a 2020 episode of Celebrity Come Dine with Me where she served fried chicken to AJ Odudu, Anthea Turner, Dave Benson Phillips and Marcel Somerville. Amelia scored a total of 35 points which secured her third place.
Amelia presented the Channel 4 documentary Meet the Markles, in which she travelled to the US to meet members of Meghan Markle’s family.
At the 97th Oscars earlier this month, Amelia was the official Social Media Ambassador and Red Carpet Correspondent for the awards.
Ahead of appearing on Bake Off, when asked if she could bake, she said: “I can kind of follow a recipe, but I haven’t baked since I was a teenager. As a teenager, and at primary school, after school, to cure my boredom, I would lock myself in the kitchen and bake, and wouldn’t let anyone else in the kitchen.
“Nobody was allowed in until I’d finished making my cupcakes or my Victoria Sponge. Or I made an upside-down fruitcake once. But I’ve not baked since I was basically a child. So can I bake? Debatable.”
Amelia also teased that she’d consider inviting Paul Hollywood onto her dating show if he gives her his famous handshake for one of her three bakes.
Although she tends to keep her personal and dating life quite private, she has been romantically linked with Manchester-born rapper Aitch, after he appeared on her internet show in 2019.
More recently, Olivia Rodriquez’s ex Adam Faze, a film producer, after they were seen together at the Vanity Fair EE Rising Star Party. Amelia seemed to deny claims that she was dating Adam on a TikTok stating that she was indeed still single.
